About Theodosis Mourouzis
Dr Theodosis (Theo) Mourouzis is a cryptologist and information security professional with strong interests in both academia and industry. He holds a BA/MA in Mathematics and a MSc in Pure Mathematics (PART III - Number Theory Group) from University of Cambridge, a MRes in Security Science and a PhD in Information Security with Specialisation in Cryptography from University College London. He is a recipient of the 1st award in the UK Cyber Cipher Security Challenge in 2013 and he has represented Cyprus four times in Balkan & International competitions in Mathematics. Some of the problems I have worked so far include: 1) Cryptography R&D 2) Blockchain applications 3) Tokenomics & CryptoTokens Utilities 4) Data Science: Fraud Analytics, Optimisation Techniques and Strategies 5) Authentication/Authorisation: Device Fingerprinting & Biometrics 6) ISO27001 Security Standard Implementation (ISO27001 Lead Implementer certification) & GDPR Consultant I am always open for any advisory/consulting opportunities, as well as academic or commercial collaborations. Dr Theodosis (Theo) Mourouzis is a Research Fellow at the UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies (UCL CBT) and Programme Director of the MSc in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics at the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM). He is also a visiting professor at the Innopolis University (Russia Federation) and the Managing Director of Cyprus Blockchain Technologies, a non-profit organisation founded by CIIM, UCL CBT, University of Nicosia, Oracle and major local banks and financial institutions including Hellenic Bank, Bank of Cyprus and Cooperative Bank with the aim to promote Blockchain technology . Theo received his PhD in Computer Science (with specialisation in symmetric cryptanalysis) from University College London (Information Security Group). He was a member of the UCL Information Security Group that in 2013 was awarded the 1st award in the 4-month UK Cyber Cipher Security Challenge among UK universities, organised by GCHQ and PwC. He also holds a MRes in Security Science from UCL, a MSc in Advanced Studies in Mathematics (Number Theory Group) from University of Cambridge and a BA/MA in Mathematics from University of Cambridge. He was a member of the Mathematics National Team of Cyprus for 4 consecutive times (Cyprus 2001 – BMO, Turkey 2002 – BMO, Albania 2003 – BMO, Mexico 2005 – IMO). Additionally, he works also as consultant in the areas of information security, ISO27001 best practices (ISO27001 Lead Implementer certified by PECB), cryptography, Blockchain, ICO crowdfunding and data analytics. He is also a participant at the ISO/TC 307 Blockchain & Distributed Ledger Technologies and Member of the Blockchain Advisory Board of EC-Council. During his career he was employed as specialist and consultant to both private and governmental organisations, including Lloyds Banking Group, Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE). He has extensive international consultancy experience and he has consulted organisations, startups and enterprises across many countries including Israel, United Kingdom, Canada, United States of America, Switzerland, Australia, Gibraltar, Russian Federation and United Arab Emirates. His research interests lie in the areas of symmetric cryptanalysis of block ciphers and hash functions, algebraic encoding of complex algebraic structures (e.g., such as Boolean circuits with respect to Multiplicative Complexity), applications of Blockchain technologies and password analytics. During his research he contributed to the design of the best (known) Bitslice implementation of the PRESENT S-box with 14 gates.
