David Schwartz, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Ripple, has alerted the XRP community about a new phishing scam targeting users. Schwartz emphasized the need for caution against messages that appear legitimate but are actually fraudulent.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Schwartz warned users about messages claiming to be related to investigations on copyright issues, labeling them as fraudulent. He cautioned users not to click on any links included in such messages, as they lead to phishing sites designed to collect login and personal information.

Schwartz shared a screenshot of a direct message (DM) received by a user, which falsely stated that their account was under investigation for copyright violations. The message contained a link to a form and threatened account suspension if not filled within 24 hours.

While the message did not specifically mention any crypto tokens, Schwartz shared it to raise awareness about the scam within the XRP community.

This warning from Schwartz comes amidst reports of scammers creating deepfake videos impersonating Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, urging crypto users to invest for doubling returns. Garlinghouse later confirmed these videos as fake.

Schwartz's recent cautionary message follows his previous efforts to dispel rumors linking him to Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin. Despite repeatedly stating that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto, speculation persists within the crypto community.

David Schwartz's vigilant stance against scams underscores the importance of staying cautious and informed in the crypto space, where fraudulent activities are prevalent. His efforts aim to protect users from falling victim to phishing scams and misinformation.
