About Martin Elsman
From May 2008 until May 2012, I worked as a Chief System Development Consultant at SimCorp, a company specialising in software for the financial industry. Here I was heading a team that focused on developing generic asset management solutions using functional programming. Until May 2008 I worked as Associate Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Here I conducted research in design and implementation of high-level programming languages. My research interests cover module systems, platforms and type systems for Web applications, program optimisation, type systems for static memory management, garbage collection techniques, and instruction selection for virtual machines and different microprocessors, including the x86 microprocessor. I have also done work in the area of constraint-based program-analyses. In 2006, I spent half a year, on leave from my position at ITU, as CTO in NetGroup Processing/Zecure.com, a company focusing on developing Internet payment solutions and techniques for detecting e-commerce fraud. Specialties: Expert on implementation of high-level programming languages. Five years of University teaching and supervision experience. Professional experience with Web application development, including the Ruby on Rails framework and advanced database programming. I have been a co-developer of the MLKit, a compiler for the programming language Standard ML and I have developed several professional tools for Web application development, including SMLserver and SMLtoJs.
