Water150 is an innovative blockchain-based project developed by Longhouse Water S.A., designed to secure long-term access to premium spring water through the use of its utility token, W150. The project merges cutting-edge blockchain technology with sustainability and regulatory compliance, offering a unique approach to water ownership that spans over a century.
The core concept of Water150 revolves around the W150 token, an Ethereum-based digital asset that represents the right to one liter of certified spring water per year, beginning in 2027. Each token entitles the holder to an annual water allocation, which can be redeemed through the project’s DROP voucher system. Every January, token holders receive DROP vouchers corresponding to their W150 holdings, which can then be exchanged for water. These vouchers are burned upon redemption to maintain the validity and long-term integrity of the W150 token itself.
Water150 sources its water from certified wells across Northern Europe, with plans to expand globally to a network of up to 1,000 springs. All water sources are audited annually under ISO 17025-certified laboratory protocols, ensuring they meet the stringent Longhouse Water Quality Standard. This commitment to quality ensures that token holders receive premium water that is safe, pure, and sustainably sourced.
The project leverages blockchain transparency to maintain a secure and traceable record of token issuance and voucher redemptions. This ensures that all transactions are verifiable and that water rights are immutable, providing a high level of trust and accountability. In addition, W150 is fully compliant with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR), making it one of the first utility tokens linked to a real-world asset to meet EU regulatory standards.
