In December 2023, LINE NEXT raised USD 140 million from a consortium led by Crescendo Equity Partners, a private equity firm backed by Peter Thiel. This funding represents one of the largest investments in the Asian blockchain and Web3 industry for that year. The capital will be used to introduce new platforms and services connecting Web3 and existing web features globally.
LINE NEXT plans to launch its global NFT platform, DOSI, in January 2024. DOSI will offer a digital marketplace where a wide range of digital products can be traded. The platform will integrate with Japan’s existing NFT marketplace, LINE NFT, and will be available as a mobile app to users worldwide. Additionally, LINE NEXT intends to provide solutions that allow services and brands to give ownership directly to digital products and trade them, facilitating the adoption of Web3 across various industries.
The company also plans to introduce a social app that enables users to communicate through AI-generated characters and launch new Web3 games featuring popular characters. These services will be built on the public blockchain Finschia, with both LINE NEXT and Crescendo participating as governance members, contributing to the ecosystem’s expansion.
Through these initiatives, LINE NEXT aims to popularize Web3 and develop a service ecosystem where users can truly own the value of their digital goods, combining innovative technology with accessible, user-centric platforms.
