Last weekend, the second edition of BLOČK, a blockchain developer conference organized by Blockada.io, took place at Hotel Castellum in Čakovec, Croatia. This year's conference, entitled BLOČK 2018 – NFT Edition, mainly focused on the development, deployment, and application of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens).

During the practical part of the conference, which took place on Friday, a group of 40 developers gained valuable knowledge through two hands-on interactive 4-hour workshops held by George Spasov and Vladislav of LimeChain, and Billy Rennekamp, the founder of Bin Studio, a multidisciplinary research, design, and development studio based in Berlin.

The theoretical part of the conference took place on Saturday hosted 80 blockchain developers and enthusiasts and 12 speakers from various domains of blockchain technologies. The international group of speakers included international experts such as Ilija Rolović of Enjin, the company that deployed their own cryptocurrency, EnjinCoin (ENJ), and strives to revolutionize blockchain-based gaming, Urban Osvald (0xcert), Nikola Jokić (DAPowerplay), Bruno Škvorc and Sonja Prstec (Status), Mislav Javor (AMPnet), and Grzegorz Kapkowski (CryptoVerse).

Aside from the high-quality transfer of theoretical and practical knowledge, the attendees of this year's BLOČK conference enjoyed a number of relaxing networking events during which they exchanged ideas, concepts, experiences, and good vibes over good local food and drinks. Also, those who didn't mind running around in the snow participated in the conference's Crypto Hunt, an exciting town-wide hunt for unique conference tokens that brought awesome prizes to the fastest hunters.

Many international companies, including Enjin, Node Factory, Electrocoin, Auctionity, 0xcert, Locoins, Bitcoin Store, AMPnet, and Async Labs, sponsored the conference and enabled the organizers to turn their vision into reality – they established BLOČK as an elite annual conference of blockchain developers.

The goal of BLOČK and Blockada, the non-governmental organization that stands behind its organization, is the initiation of the process of technological decentralization of Croatia and the expansion of knowledge on blockchain technologies whose global influence and importance are rapidly rising. During the two days of the conference, the small snowy town of Čakovec indeed turned into a competent technological hub which hosted a number of experts, innovators, and enthusiasts.

While BLOČK is a conference reserved mostly for blockchain developers, Blockada also organizes BlockSplit, a major business & development-oriented blockchain conference in the coastal city of Split. The next BlockSplit will take place in April of 2019.
