The Mina Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, dedicated to supporting the Mina Protocol—a lightweight and highly efficient decentralized blockchain powered by zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs). The Foundation’s mission is to foster a secure, private, and scalable Web3 ecosystem by empowering developers, researchers, and community members to build innovative projects on the Mina Protocol.
Governed by a diverse Board of Directors consisting of blockchain and technology experts, the Foundation provides strategic guidance and oversight to align its activities with the needs of the Mina ecosystem. This leadership ensures that the Foundation stays focused on its core objectives while adapting to the evolving blockchain landscape.
The Mina Foundation runs several key programs and initiatives to stimulate growth and innovation. The Navigators program offers grants, technical resources, and mentorship to developers and teams building impactful projects on Mina. Core Grants support the development of essential infrastructure, tooling, and integrations, strengthening the overall community. Additionally, the Delegation Program empowers community block producers by delegating voting power from the Foundation’s tokens, enhancing network decentralization. The zkIgnite program supports entrepreneurs aiming to create real-world applications and businesses on the Mina Protocol.
In 2024, the Foundation partnered with Mirae Asset Financial Group to develop a privacy-preserving security token offering platform. This collaboration uses Mina’s zero-knowledge proof technology to allow users to verify asset ownership without revealing sensitive personal information, addressing privacy concerns common in traditional finance.
