Foundation

Architecting decentralized solutions for real world assets.

Mainnet inception

Building and launching the permissionless OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph mainnet in 2018, leading to adoption by world class partners and achieving the multichain vision for the OriginTrail Network.

Turing phase

The OriginTrail Turing phase enables a shift from data to knowledge assets that are made discoverable and verifiable across decentralized and centralized systems. Named after Alan Turing, the father of computer science and artificial intelligence, it introduces support for knowledge assets and Universal Asset Locators (analogous to URLs in Web2) in version 6 of the Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG). It is thus giving builders the easiest way to create interoperable applications for the next generation Internet. The V6 inaugurally launches on OriginTrail ecosystem’s own L1 - OriginTrail Parachain on Polkadot, with an adoption blueprint laid forth for further adoption of DKG on any other blockchain.

Metcalfe phase

The OriginTrail Metcalfe phase, inspired by Dr Bob Metcalfe, known for the “Metcalfe’s Law” and the creation of the first ever computer network, will harness the power of network effects, by driving the adoption of Decentralized Knowledge Graph. It will be carried out on the three key technology layers - across several blockchain networks (L1s and L2s), through enablement of enterprise-grade applications(e.g. Network Operating System (nOS)) and decentralized storage systems (e.g. IPFS, Filecoin). The multichain OriginTrail capable of ingesting and transforming data into knowledge assets will further advance accessibility for builders to deploy valuable knowledge assets interoperable across a spectrum of technology.

Berners-Lee phase

Following the adoption of knowledge assets by indexing a multitude of Web2 and Web3 systems in the DKG, the Berners-Lee phase's purpose is to enable the Semantic Web3 vision of the internet, enabling AI-powered solutions based on trusted knowledge assets. The focus of the phase is to pair the DKG with AI tools and components, enabling unprecedented value building solutions for businesses and individuals in an inclusive manner. As AI models continue to mature, the importance of managing their data input is critical - trusted knowledge assets with verifiable sources, discoverable on the multichain DKG Version 8 (V8), will prove essential for AI-specific queries in the Semantic Web3, driving the sustainable global economy.
