Omar Dweik

Former Athlete & Entrepreneur | Digital Media, Sports & Tech Enthusiast. Born in Amman, Jordan, I was raised in a small country, with a very rich history. Growing up, I found myself observing my parents and my older brother in every little thing they did. My father is a pilot, my mother is a retired business woman in the fashion and sports industry, and my older brother- who’s also a pilot- were all role-models of mine, and still remain to be to this day. Living in the Middle East essentially meant that I was in the middle of the world, both literally and figuratively. I was lucky enough to visit around 30 countries by the time I was 16, and as a result have had the privilege to be exposed to countless cultures and languages at a very young age. This allowed me to experience life from the eyes of others, many of whom came from different backgrounds and experiences than mine. I owe my father and sports for this… big time. What many do not know about me is that I was forced to play sports. As soon as I turned three, I was diagnosed with speech problems. Apparently, I had my own unique language that only my parents managed to decode back then. That said, speech therapists and doctors recommended that I participate in team sports, as they figured that it would be through those interactions that I will end up learning Arabic or English, and boy did I learn. Accordingly, my mother forced me to play sports, something I deeply despised at the time. However, as time passed by, the more involved I was became, so the more in love I fell. I signed my first amateur contract playing basketball when I was 12-years old, and despite being hyped by the basketball community in Jordan, my passion was for football. Hence, I shifted my attention to football, which led me to join the Under-14 national team just a year later.
