About Chang Liu
Dr. Chang Liu, Associate Professor of Computer Science at Ohio University, specializes in software engineering, learning/training games and simulations in 3-D virtual worlds and mobile environments. Chang is the founding director of the VITAL (Virtual Immersive Technologies and Arts for Learning) Lab at Ohio University. Since he joined Ohio University in 2002, Chang has published over thirty refereed papers and won over twenty grants totaling over five million dollars. Sponsors of Chang’s projects include the National Science Foundation, Ohio EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), U.S. EPA, Ohio Learning Network, ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) SIGCSE (Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education), Filene Research Institute, Members United Corporate Federal Credit Union, Smithsonian Latino Center, and the Department of Labor. Chang obtained his doctoral degree from the Department of Information & Computer Science at the University of California at Irvine in 2002. During his graduate career, Chang had worked in the Component Applications group at Microsoft Research, the Visual C++ group at Microsoft, the Personal Security Manager group at AOL/Netscape, and the Quest team at Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC). Chang was the recipient of the 2009 Marvin E. and Ann D. White Research Award and the 2007 Advanced Technology Summit Award for Leadership.
