FinanceMalta is a non-profit public-private foundation established in 2007 with the goal of promoting Malta as an international business and financial centre. It unites industry stakeholders with government bodies to strengthen Malta’s legal, regulatory, and fiscal framework, creating an environment in which financial services and fintech can flourish.
The organization’s primary mission is to enhance global awareness of Malta’s advantages in financial services. By positioning the country as a competitive and innovative jurisdiction, FinanceMalta works to attract international investment and create new opportunities for its members.
Malta offers several benefits that the foundation emphasizes: a skilled and multilingual workforce, cost-efficient operations, attractive tax arrangements, a strong network of double taxation treaties, and a robust ICT infrastructure. Its status as an EU and Eurozone member provides businesses with direct access to the European single market, while the island’s location in the Mediterranean makes it a strategic hub for international commerce.
FinanceMalta represents and supports a wide range of sectors, including banking, insurance and reinsurance, investment funds, asset management, fintech, family offices, private wealth, and corporate services. It also places growing emphasis on sustainable finance, maritime and aviation services, and emerging industries that drive innovation.
The foundation is governed by a Board of Governors that includes representatives from both government and the private sector. It operates through collaboration with its members, offering policy advocacy, international promotion, networking opportunities, trade missions, conferences, and industry publications. These initiatives allow FinanceMalta to strengthen relationships between Maltese firms and international stakeholders.
