One of the biggest features of the blockchain is that it replaces the trust agent. In a social network relationship WE are the trust agent. We decide who we know and trust. In a transaction the role of a trust agent can be served by bank, government, or escrow. I write a check to party B, then the bank says to party B “Its OK, we know you don’t know the guy but you can trust us. We’re a bank”

With blockchain, trust is irrelevant. So maybe the social network of the future, with blockchain built in, is decidedly less social but much more “networky”. We no longer have to serve as a trust agent in the social network.
