MIT Bitcoin Expo 2026 is a two-day conference dedicated to exploring the ideas, technology, and social impact of Bitcoin, taking place on April 11–12, 2026 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Organized by the MIT Bitcoin Club, the event brings together developers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and students from around the world to examine how Bitcoin and related technologies are shaping the future of digital money and financial sovereignty.
The 2026 edition carries the theme “Freedom for All,” highlighting Bitcoin’s role as a tool for individual empowerment and open financial systems. Through keynote talks, panel discussions, and community-driven conversations, the expo explores topics such as cryptography, decentralized infrastructure, economic sovereignty, and emerging applications built on the Bitcoin network. The program features speakers from across the Bitcoin ecosystem, including developers, cryptographers, researchers, and industry leaders.
Alongside the conference, the event includes the MIT Bitcoin Hackathon, a 36-hour in-person buildathon where developers collaborate to create new applications and tools for Bitcoin and blockchain technology. With workshops, mentorship, and project presentations, the hackathon and expo together create a collaborative environment for learning, experimentation, and networking within one of the world’s most active academic Bitcoin communities.
