Size of Potential Market
DAOstack may initially operate in a somewhat niche market, as the amount of organizations ready to utilize an out of the box solution may be limited. However, as the project simplifies the entire process of creating and managing DAOs and dApps, DAOstack is well-positioned to take advantage of any significant growth in the adoption of blockchain technology by organizations and industries. The DAOstack team has targeted the areas of Collaboration, Shared Ownership and Curation, and as a result will provide viable solutions to film and media organizations, investment funds and charities, as well as a number of curation networks that leverage the wisdom of the crowd such as online guides, reviews, and website listings. With blockchain technology expected to disrupt a number of key industries over the coming years, the scope of this project could be huge.
Innovation & Intellectual Property
DAOstack operates as a fully open source project and as a result patents may not be applicable. The code is available to be viewed on their Github. No patents have currently been found regarding intellectual property.
Blockchain Advantage
Blockchain technology is an essential part of the DAOstack project, and as a toolkit for Decentralized Autonomous Organizations, the blockchain is key to maintaining robust governance structures.
Transparency
The DAOstack whitepaper explains the overall aims and objectives of the project in good detail, but both versions leave out the project’s roadmap, which can only be found on the official website. As a result, there is little information regarding development and execution schedules.
Vision
The roadmap runs until 2020, with several technical developments and implementations leading up to the date. On the technical side, DAOstack’s milestones look promising, and in just over one year a fully-functional and unique platform should be in place. But plans for commercialization and user-base expansion are not touched upon. We believe that waiting until 2020 to start commercializing the product is too long of a timeframe in the innovative and fast-paced world we live in.
