OKX Wallet App Launch Hits Snag with Regional Availability

OKX's wallet app rollout sparks excitement but is limited to certain regions, with more features to come - IcoHolder.

OKX’s Web3 product manager, Kyle Chen, recently revealed that the platform’s standalone wallet app was available for download on the Google Play Store, only to later apologize for sharing the news prematurely. On March 24, Chen admitted in a post that the app's rollout had not been as universal as initially suggested, with availability limited to specific regions and devices. The exact regions where the app can be accessed were not disclosed, and the timeline for broader availability remains unclear.

Chen took to social media to express his regret, humorously acknowledging that he had “revealed it too early,” and anticipating some reprimands from his colleagues in marketing. The announcement initially sparked excitement among users, as it signaled the arrival of an independent app for OKX's wallet service. Chen had earlier encouraged followers to search for the "OKX Wallet" app in the Google Play Store, though he clarified that it is not yet available on Apple’s App Store.

Alongside the app's release, Chen shared a glimpse of its new features, including a "Token AI Narrative Summary." This tool offers users real-time market sentiment insights, such as long and short position data and up-to-the-minute discussions from social media platform X. He also teased upcoming "bigger features" for the app.

However, Chen emphasized that these features would not be exclusive to the mobile app. Users unable to download the app due to regional restrictions can still access the Token AI Narrative Summary via the OKX website.

In related news, OKX recently suspended its decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator service after an attempted hack, which is believed to have originated from North Korea’s Lazarus Group. The exchange used this pause to strengthen its security measures, aiming to bolster defenses against future cyberattacks.
