FTX Releases Largest Volume of WBTC Tokenized Bitcoin for DeFi Farming Alameda Research, the owner of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, has issued the largest one-time emission of the Ethereum-token WBTC pegged to Bitcoin at a ratio of 1 to 1. The total transaction volume was 2,317 WBTC. This is just 1 WBTC more than the Three Arrows Capital crypto fund issued a day earlier. Speaking to The Block, Alameda founder Sam Bankman-Fried revealed that his firm continues to see significant demand for WBTC due to increased activity in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. “Profitability in DeFi has declined but is still substantial. Against this background, there is a high demand for bitcoin in other chains. WBTC remains the largest of its kind and the most prevalent in DeFi and profitable farming, ”he said. According to the Nansen service, WBTC currently accounts for about 75% of all tokenized bitcoins. Alameda Research is also the largest issuer of WBTC to date with 37,609 tokens. On Thursday, WBTC launched on the Tron blockchain.
