About Mark Caplan
Mark Caplan is an experienced licensing, entertainment, and interactive games business executive. He is Principal/Co-Founder of BD Labs,Inc. Mark previously held the title of Senior Vice President, Global Consumer Products for Sony Pictures Entertainment. During his time, the division managed the licensing, merchandising, location-based entertainment, and interactive gaming efforts for some of the best film brands in the industry. He has worked closely with a wide variety of consumer product manufacturers, retailers, and game industry executives and has been involved with many transactions over the years working with rights holders, producers, agents, and studio executives. Mark has been involved in the business of licensing for some of the most recognized properties in film and television. Theatrical properties such as the Spider-man movie franchise, Ghostbusters, The Smurfs movie and classic property, Goosebumps, Hotel Transylvania, Men in Black, as well as licensing for several animated television and film properties, and award-winning shows such as Breaking Bad, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. During his time at Fox, he worked on video game opportunities for The Simpsons, X-Files, and other key studio properties. He started his career as a Business Development consultant for Japan-based Link Consulting Associates assisting to build US-Japan business relationships in the licensing, franchise, and real estate industries. One of his first deals in the games industry was the distribution of content for CD-Rom games. Mark has been a frequent speaker at entertainment, licensing and digital conferences worldwide. He has served as a Vice President West Coast for (LIMA) Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association.
