Cartesi

Cartesi is a blockchain infrastructure project designed to make decentralized application (dApp) development more powerful, scalable, and accessible by bringing mainstream software tooling into the Web3 ecosystem. It operates as a Layer-2 solution that enhances the capabilities of base blockchains such as Ethereum while maintaining their security and decentralization.

Sur Cartesi

At the core of Cartesi is the Cartesi Virtual Machine, which allows developers to run a full Linux operating system off-chain. This innovation enables the use of widely adopted programming languages and tools such as Python, C++, and standard Linux libraries, rather than being limited to traditional smart contract languages. By combining blockchain settlement with off-chain computation, Cartesi makes it possible to build complex, computation-intensive decentralized applications that would otherwise be too expensive or inefficient to execute directly on-chain.

Cartesi utilizes an architecture based on Optimistic Rollups, allowing heavy computations to be processed off-chain while securely anchoring the results to the underlying blockchain. This hybrid design significantly improves scalability, reduces transaction costs, and increases flexibility for developers. As a result, Cartesi is well suited for advanced use cases in gaming, decentralized finance (DeFi), artificial intelligence, data processing, and other applications that require substantial computational resources.

The ecosystem is powered by CTSI, Cartesi’s native utility token. CTSI is used for staking, governance participation, and supporting network operations. Token holders contribute to the security and growth of the ecosystem, aligning incentives between developers, validators, and users.

Overall, Cartesi aims to bridge the gap between traditional Web2 software development and Web3 decentralization. By enabling developers to build scalable and expressive decentralized applications using familiar tools, it lowers technical barriers and expands the potential of blockchain technology for real-world adoption.
