Decentralisation at the heart of DigiByte

February 22, 2019 BACK TO PRESS RELEASES

DigiByte coin launches new features and applications as it prepares for the first DigiByte Global Summit, in Amsterdam at Easter. New developments in the DigiByte blockchain have spread adoption of the coin and its integration into different payment and digital identity systems.

In the meantime, founder Jared Tate finalises his book about decentralised technologies, which promises to be one of the most significant publications about this new phase of the internet.

DigiByte: Decentralised cryptocurrency to maximise security

With figures showing that more than 60 per cent of the top 100 crypto projects do not have a finished product, and that over 800 cryptocurrency projects have failed, it’s easy to be skeptical about all things crypto. Among the thousands of coins available on the crypto market, very few can live up to their promise to ‘revolutionise’ the financial system. One of the revolutionary few, however, is DigiByte (DGB)

DigiByte is successful because it is more than a cryptocurrency: it is a token designed to build a new internet enabled by decentralised technology. It has one of the strongest use cases in the cryptocurrency market and can support over 48 million transactions a day  ̶  10 times the current transaction capacity of the top 50 blockchains by market cap.

Unlike many cryptocurrencies, DigiByte was not funded through an ICO, presale or token sale, nor is there a private company controlling the Digibyte blockchain in line with DGB’s vision for a decentralised future.  No one owns DigiByte: in fact, Jared Tate is simply its creator. Since implementation, the DigiByte community has remained cohesive, applying hard forks directly to its main chain without division.

DigiByte celebrated its 5th anniversary last January and has become the largest, fastest and most secure blockchain currently available on the crypto market. The newest features are Digi-ID and DigiAssets, both applications built on the highly secure DGB platform that allows the application of decentralised technologies to digital identity and safe management of digital assets.

Digi-ID is extremely secure because it automatically generates a unique identity key for different websites every time the user logs in, therefore protecting the user’s identity from being shared with third parties.

Digi-ID comes fully integrated in DigiByte mobile wallets, which are free to download and use. It can also be implemented into multiple platforms including mobile banking, streaming services and social media. Digi-ID works before unlocking, making logins much faster.

Testing of Digi Assets has already begun and more news is to follow soon.

Due to its sophistication and constant improvement, the DigiByte platform is being deployed to develop Antum and V-ID, two projects powered DGB blockchain to provide verification and digital identity services.

Following the launch of these new applications, the ChangeAngel exchange has started using Antum and DigiID in their operations; and payment platform Paycent has integrated Digibyte into their systems for owners to spend DGB globally and to withdraw from ATMs through their Paycent app.

Blockchain 2035: Building the decentralised internet

DigiByte founder Jared Tate firmly believes that decentralised technologies are able to correct the flaws in the current internet design. In light of this issue, he is writing “Blockchain 2035: The Digital DNA of Internet 3.0”, a discourse on the multiple ways decentralised technologies are reshaping the internet. “Blockchain represents a shift of paradigm in the architecture of the internet,” says Tate.

More than just highlighting the benefits of blockchain applications, Tate’s book will build the case for blockchain technology to be integrated within the fundamental internet structure. Blockchain represents the evolution of the internet, whose initial concept was indeed decentralisation.

“The new era of decentralised power is shaping our economy and society, empowering individuals while increasing their responsibilities, challenging traditional institutions and the current security framework, driving innovation towards a tokenised economy,” commented Steffy (Stefania Barbaglio), official PR at DigiByte

This is a result of the development and integration of new technologies, the hyper-connectivity brought by smart devices, big data and the internet of things: “In the future, everything in our daily lives will be connected via Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Blockchain technology can protect your data and your privacy from this”, says Jared Tate.

His book is expected to be one of the main publications on blockchain, promising to offer valuable insights from a top blockchain technology expert on how new, more user-centred and secure internet can be created.

After a very successful informal DGB community gathering of in London last November, the European DGB community gears up for its first global summit, with the presence of DGB team members, as well as the founders of Antum and V-ID, the platforms deploying DGB blockchain.

The DGB community and its enthusiasts can expect more news and updates on DGB projects to be released during the first global DigiByte Summit, taking place in Amsterdam on 19th April 2019.
