About Internet Computer
The DFINITY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization developing technology for the Internet Computer blockchain. We are headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland, and have major research centers in Switzerland and California, and remote teams in places such as Germany, the UK and US. Our team of cryptographers, computer scientists and engineers have collectively earned nearly 100,000 academic citations. We aim to create a "blockchain singularity" in which every system and service is rebuilt and reimagined using smart contracts and runs entirely from infinite public blockchain without need for traditional IT.
Our mission is to develop and contribute technology that enables the Internet Computer (IC) blockchain and its ecosystem. It is powered by new "chain key cryptography" that allows it to run at web speed with efficiency that is many orders of magnitude improved, for smart contracts to serve web directly to end users, and for on-chain compute to scale without bound - allowing mass market web3 services to run entirely on-chain, and for blockchain to become an alternative to traditional IT, such as cloud services. The IC is governed and updated by the Network Nervous System (NNS), a protocol-integrated DAO that decides using liquid democracy. Supporting the mission are more than 200 world-renowned scientists and engineers specializing in cryptography, distributed systems, execution environments, language programing and more.

Dfinity is one of the most large-scale and ambitious projects we’ve seen. As they say about themselves, Dfinity is an “exciting new extension of the Ethereum ecosystem that will make it much, much stronger”. It’s a network for DApps, including those that can be run on Ethereum, with such benefits as extreme performance, unlimited scalability, interoperability, etc. Considering the top team and funds they already raised, Dfinity is going to become one of the loudest blockchain-based projects. Their main challenge is in the existing competitors, so they have to be in a hurry to develop the system as soon as possible.
An extremely ambitious project that is going if not to become new Ethereum, then at least to improve it in a number of parameters.
Mar 22: They will probably wait for a better market. They are greedy, metrics suck, but I will invest as much as possible, because their competitors are ICON, EOS etc. So, theoretically it could go to the top (of CoinMarketCap) even with such a crazy cap. The project is worth watching.
But I am scared of early investors, they have done 200x, they may dump the price.
9 Apr: Dfinity has canceled main sale, there will be only pre-sale for strategic investors. But there will be solid airdrop (from 500 to 2500 USD).
