Back in 2013, a large portion of cloud-based transactions at the company where Costa Tsaousis worked as COO simply weren’t going through. This wasn’t just a glitch; it was significantly impacting the business. Costa and his team tried all the existing monitoring tools to figure out what was going on, but none of the existing solutions were of much help. The tools didn’t provide enough data, didn’t offer the resolution they needed, were tough to scale, and cost a small fortune to run. Frustrated and determined to solve the problem he was facing, Costa decided to build his own monitoring tool - from scratch. That tool became Netdata, a real-time monitoring platform that provides insights into the performance of complex infrastructures and applications. Designed and architected based on three main pillars: simplicity, speed, and scale.
