About ministry of privacy

The principles we build on

Why are you concerned about your privacy? If you have nothing to hide then… This phrase is alive. Whether we love it or not, it keeps popping up in every privacy discussion, online and offline. This country scores poorly when it comes to knowledge, understanding and protection of our privacy. That has to be different.

Ministry of Privacy was established as a privacy activist watchdog . The board monitors the Foundation's strategy and priorities. Ambassadors are spreading the privacy word. Our members create support and the right to speak. Respectively the brain mouth and body of our organization, so to speak. Governments that excessively misuse our personal data, companies that prioritize revenue and quick wins  over privacy, can finally expect a backlash. We focus on four core tasks: informing, responding, teaching & litigating. We want to raise awareness, online and offline. Because the phrase "if you have nothing to hide, …' , it has to come out. We respond to questions from citizens and journalists. We process complaints from our members (against companies and governments), and mediate where necessary. However, complaining alone is never enough, so we want to teach privacy-friendly techniques to associations, companies and government agencies. We also go to court when there is absolutely no other option.

A Foundation is not a company. We are a non-profit, with no commercial purpose. We don't talk promos, we don't have anything to sell. We rely and live on the support of our members, donors and volunteers. Privacy concerns us all. The surveillance society , whether built by government or corporations, can still be stopped. It is indeed high time for action. For unity. For a powerful, intelligent and informed voice in the debate.
