A blockchain is a public digital ledger in which transactions are recorded. It is quite literally a chain of blocks, with – broadly speaking – each block containing the transactions made during a certain time frame. New blocks are continually being added to the chain in an extremely tamper-resistant way. Blockchain technology has given people the ability to transfer money – cryptocurrency – all over the world. This is done in a fast and secure manner without the need for third parties such as banks or governments.

The importance of the blockchain isn’t limited to the transfer of money. People are constantly finding new ways in which to use the unique and immutable properties of the blockchain, and a lot resources are available for people who want to learn more. The blockchain is gaining momentum globally, and BiblePay is riding the crest of its wave.

he creation of cryptocurrency requires a lot of computing power. Unfortunately the electrical energy used to process most cryptocurrencies is essentially wasted on solving mathmatical problems that offer little or no value to society.

BiblePay takes a completely different approach. Instead of wasting energy that essentially just generates heat, most of our computing resources are used in research projects focused on finding cures for diseases. This energy-efficient method is respectful to the environment. Even more, it helps provide hope to people all around the world.

When you participate as a ‘BiblePay Researcher’ you get BiblePay coins (BBP) based on the amount of research you do. This BBP is created in a block, but instead of being in the standard 7-minute block it is included in a daily ‘superblock’ that is distributed to researchers. Most people that actively participate in our community have a digital wallet in which they store their BBP. A wallet is an App installed on a device such as a computer or smartphone. Each wallet in the BiblePay network has its own copy of the blockchain. Because of this, every single wallet can audit all others. These audits ensure that the blockchain ledger is so immutable that it doesn’t need a third party like a bank to securely track the flow of transactions.

BiblePay has implemented novel ways to spread the Gospel. For instance, we have encoded the entire KJV Bible into our software. This means that every BiblePay user has access to the Bible right from their wallet. Also, the wallet displays a Bible verse with every transaction you do.

There are also other implementations right inside the wallet, like asking others to pray with you or documenting repentance for your sins. More in-wallet features are being developed, such as writing letters to the orphans we sponsor.

Being a self-funding cryptocurrency provides us with even more ways to spread the Gospel. For instance, we can use our BiblePay coin (BBP) to incentivize people to learn more about Christianity. For example, we have Gospel Links that you can navigate to learn about Christianity and at the same time earn some BBP. We also have BiblePay University, which allows you to take quizzes about Christianity while earning BBP. All-in-all, there is a lot of potential and a lot of development going on.
