A recent Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing has revealed that several major players in the cryptocurrency industry, including Consensys, Solana, and Uniswap, donated millions of dollars to Donald Trump's inauguration fund. The filings, released on Sunday, April 20, shed light on contributions that were made behind the scenes and not publicly disclosed until now.

Solana Labs made a significant contribution of $1 million to the inauguration, a donation that was kept under wraps until the new filings emerged. In addition, Hayden Adams, CEO of the decentralized exchange Uniswap, donated $245,000. Crypto analytics firm Consensys also pledged $100,000 to the event, a figure that went largely unnoticed by the public.

These contributions helped Trump raise more than $239 million for the elaborate inauguration festivities, which featured many corporate donors, including a number of crypto industry executives. The latest FEC filing also confirmed that other notable crypto firms such as Ripple Labs, Coinbase, Kraken, Ondo Finance, and Robinhood made seven-figure donations, further emphasizing the industry's financial influence on the event.

Ripple, one of the largest contributors, donated nearly $4.9 million, making it one of the biggest backers, second only to Pilgrim’s Pride Corp, a U.S.-based poultry producer. Other major donors included tech giants like Apple and Meta, as well as high-profile individuals such as Apple CEO Tim Cook. The event also saw contributions from AI companies, with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Perplexity AI among those who made significant donations.

While the U.S. government covers the costs of the swearing-in ceremony, the additional celebrations surrounding the inauguration are funded privately. To facilitate this, a non-profit Presidential Inaugural Committee is formed by the candidate, which collects donations from private donors to cover the event's lavish expenses.
