Lighthouse Investment Partners began as the alternative investment division within a multi‑family office based in the United States.

Prior to establishing Lighthouse, four of the current Lighthouse principals worked together at Trout Trading Management Co., Ltd., a Bermuda‑based global hedge fund operation.

Institutional demand and a plan to develop additional investment solutions prompted Lighthouse to separate from the multi‑family office parent company in 1999.
