QUANT OVERLEDGER

This is a new block chain operating system designed to solve the problem of single-ledger dependency. It will achieve this by increasing commutability among deploy distributed ledger (DLTs) thus allowing general-purpose apps to run on different block chains. It also introduces a vendor-dependent wire-level protocol for message-oriented middleware.

PROS

• Overledger is a universal, general purpose technology and as such decouples the business logic from the underlying ledger technologies. Consequently, general-purpose apps can reside concurrently on different ledgers.
• On the platform, different applications can communicate, migrate and exchange information as well as value irrespective of the ledger in which they have been deployed.
• It facilitates secure payments between different users who have assets in separate ledgers without the necessity for a trusted third party.
• Overledger addresses the interoperability issue (a common problem with distributed ledger) by positioning the system above the ledgers as opposed to ordering and matching diverse ledgers.
• Internet scalability is incorporated into the core of the Quant Overledger protocol and approach. The limitation brought about by block chain’s ability to implement a two-way peg scheme is, therefore, nonexistent.
• It does not route data across-ledgers, and hence connection time is proportional to the latency of the involved chains. It does not rely on the path length because all ledgers are connected right to the system’s presentation layer.
• Whitepaper: it vividly compares and contrasts various existing systems effectively showing the ways Overledger overcomes challenges faced by present platforms.

CONS

• The Team; while the team members are distinguished in their respective specialties, the fact they are few
• Since the platform is an over-layer system, the latency of all the underlying layers plays a crucial role in determining operational speed.
• It does not incorporate an affiliate program that would otherwise market it to a large number of potential users.

SUGGESTIONS

• Bring on board many highly qualified and experienced personnel to enrich the system with relevant approaches and ideas.
• The system should establish and communicate to the users the speed of each underlying layer of every transaction and account for the same to the user.
• Introduce an affiliate program so as to widen the market and take its adoption to the next level.

NOTE: Quant Overledger has all the features of a great block chain operating system. It addresses the challenges that similar system faces and propose very interesting concepts on interoperability connection method and scalability making it a very attractive venture. I will certainly invest in it.

I'm not seeing much under GitHub, so we'll have to see if they have any actual ship code.

Summary

Quant has a solution that could bring in a new wave of blockchain apps that are decentralized. This makes it easier for developers as they only have to code once. Overall, with its innovation, Quant has a great future ahead of it.

Positives
Partnership: Quant has links to National Agencies and Government Bodies.
Developer Friendly: When you create an app with Quant, you don’t have to worry about creating it for another blockchain.
Strong Team: The CEO has a lot of experience in information security and has a solid background. Plus, its advisory board has been working directly with Quant’s Overledger since 2015.
Negatives
Limited Market Information: On its whitepaper, it shows limited information on the marketplace and how it will be utilized.
No MVP: While this is a great concept, it needs to have a physical product. According to their development team, their code will be released on Github on Q3 2018.
High Competition: It says that it wants to create a multi-dApp platform, but there are also other projects that have this same goal such as Arcblock.
