I am an industrial design engineer by trade, and I have been working as a freelance designer for about ten years. A few years ago I noticed that in my freelance work I was doing increasingly more graphic design. And while I like doing graphic design, I missed making three dimensional products that people could actually hold and interact with. At this time I had also been interested the increasing use of 3d-printing in design, but found the quality of prints that affordable FDM printers could make lacking for finished products. However, I had heard good things from friends and colleagues about the high quality prints made by a Dutch company called Shapeways. Because I’ve always liked playing board games, tabletop role-playing games, and card games such as Magic: the Gathering, and because a die seemed like an ideally suited small item to produce using high quality 3d-printing in metal, the first design I made for an item printed by Shapeways was of a twenty sided spindown life counter die.
I was quite amazed by the quality of this first print, and decided to also design a matching d4, d6, d8, d10 and d12 to get my first full dice set. Designing dice turned out to be a very enjoyable experience for me, and this, coupled with the positive responses I received both in person and online, has made it that I haven’t stopped designing dice and other related products ever since. An added bonus is that Shapeways makes it easy to sell designs that have passed their quality control to a worldwide audience.
This website is an attempt to collect and showcase all my designs that are currently available for on-demand printing through my Shapeways shop and combine this with several items I make myself. These last are available through the web shop part of this site.
The name for this website and the brand under which I sell my gaming related items was originally from another project that I am still working and that will hopefully available through this website in the near future. I am currently also branching out into other types of items such as jewelry, and there should be more of these types of items added here in the coming months as well.
