A wannabe-prime minister of Thailand promises everyone a crypto bribe for being elected

The Pheu Thai Party whose representative Srettha Thavisin is participating in the prime minister election in Thailand promised every citizen aged 16 or older 10,000 baht in digital currency if Thavisin wins the right to shape the national government.

The initiative was met with a great deal of scepticism. First of all, it was to be funded by taxpayers. Some thought that the move was manipulative and disrespectful toward the voters.

Pheu Thai claims that the initiative’s objective is to boost digital currencies’ penetration into the country. “The 10,000 baht is to be spent within a 4-kilometre community radius within six months during the project's early phase in a bid to attract international digital currencies”, says Bangkok Post.
