These experts are expected at the Pyongyang Blockchain Conference, which will run for a week.<\/p>\n<p>Besides gaining knowledge from crypto industry leaders, delegates and guests will be treated to a tour of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExperts in the blockchain and crypto industry will gather for the first time in Pyongyang to share knowledge and vision, establish connections, and discuss business opportunities,\u201d a promotional website for the event said.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"North_Koreas_Event_Ban_and_Blockchain_Interest\"><\/span>North Korea\u2019s Event Ban and Blockchain Interest<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">It is important to note that delegates from Israel, Japan, and South Korea will not be allowed at the conference. However, this ban does not apply to Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Also, those denied passes include journalists and anyone bringing propaganda or printed\/digital material against the dignity of the Republic.<\/p>\n<p>North Korea\u2019s interest in blockchain and digital currencies has been well documented recently. Last year, cybersecurity firm AlienVault discovered software that mines Monero. This crypto is sent to a server at Kim Il Sung University in Pyongyang.<\/p>\n<p>The Andariel group, a hacking unit from North Korea, was also accused of a crypto-jacking attack on a South Korean company.<\/p>\n<p>There is speculation that the country uses digital currencies to bypass U.S. sanctions. According to AlienVault, cryptocurrencies might provide a financial lifeline to North Korea.
