Its rapid growth shows the huge potential it holds for the years to come.<\/p>\n<p>Understanding why esports has grown so quickly is complex. There isn\u2019t one single reason. The 2010s saw a significant drop in the price of gaming PCs and smartphones. This made it easier for more people to join the sport, both as players and spectators.<\/p>\n<p>Large investments from major organizations also helped. When Amazon bought Twitch for $1 billion in 2014, many analysts doubted the price. But it gave esports the boost it needed to break into the mainstream.<\/p>\n<p>Looking back, it\u2019s clear that esports\u2019 time had come. Competitive gaming has existed since the 80s. For instance, VR spectators could gain access to a \u201cfloating camera\u201d viewpoint. This would let them move around a match and watch the action from a unique perspective.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, players could even take on a first-person perspective, watching the action up close like never before.<\/p>\n<p>Since the technology is still evolving, we don\u2019t have many examples of what a true \u201cVR esport\u201d will look like. However, with the upcoming launch of Apple\u2019s Vision Pro headset, developers are already eager to build competitive titles that utilize this new tech.<\/p>\n<p>This is similar to what happened when Apple released the iPhone. That device revolutionized how we interact with mobile hardware.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Professional_Play-to-Earn_Gaming\"><\/span><strong>Professional Play-to-Earn Gaming<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Play-to-Earn games are a novel type of video game that integrate the blockchain in order to award players with NFTs and crypto assets for character and level progression. The current generation of play-to-earn games is best seen as little more than a proof-of-concept.
