While some of the largest Bitcoin holders are publicly known, many remain anonymous, making it difficult to determine exactly who owns the most Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Biggest_Bitcoin_Whales\"><\/span>The Biggest Bitcoin Whales<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Several well-known figures in the cryptocurrency industry hold significant amounts of Bitcoin, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss \u2013 Founders of the Gemini exchange, with fortunes estimated at $4.3 billion each.<\/li>\n<li>Mike Novogratz \u2013 CEO of Galaxy Digital Holdings, a major investor in Bitcoin and the wider crypto space.<\/li>\n<li>Tim Draper \u2013 Venture capitalist who bought 30,000 BTC in a 2014 U.S. Marshals\u2019 auction.<\/li>\n<li>Micree Zhan \u2013 Co-founder of Bitmain, one of the largest Bitcoin mining companies.<\/li>\n<li>Barry Silbert \u2013 Founder of Digital Currency Group, whose Grayscale Bitcoin Trust holds over 650,000 BTC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mining_Companies_and_Exchange_Wallets\"><\/span>Mining Companies and Exchange Wallets<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Beyond individual investors, major mining firms like Bitmain and Bitfury control vast amounts of Bitcoin. Additionally, large exchange wallets often appear in rankings of top Bitcoin addresses, but these funds belong to customers rather than the exchanges themselves. Some of the biggest known exchange wallets include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Binance (#1 largest wallet)<\/li>\n<li>Bitfinex (#2)<\/li>\n<li>OKEx (#5 and #8)<\/li>\n<li>Huobi (#9)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_Bitcoin_Ownership_is_Distributed\"><\/span>How Bitcoin Ownership is Distributed<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Bitcoin ownership is highly concentrated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The top three largest Bitcoin addresses held more than 575,000 BTC in 2021.<\/li>\n<li>The next 80 wallets (each holding between 10,000\u2013100,000 BTC) controlled 2.1 million BTC.<\/li>\n<li>Around 2,050 wallets (with 1,000\u201310,000 BTC) contained 5.2 million BTC.<\/li>\n<li>The bottom 26.6 million wallets, each holding less than one Bitcoin, collectively accounted for only 232,000 BTC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Surprisingly, Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin\u2019s mysterious creator, does not appear on the whale list.
